L6 Dale Deem Horine, born August 23, 1920 in Eldorado, Ohio, died November 22, 1998, buried in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, Ohio. Married January 17, 1942 Margaret M. Stout (view Marriage License Application) born May 10, 1922 in Kitchell, Indiana. Margaret's father was Aaron Forest Stout, and her mother was Anna Mabel Overman. Two children.

Dale Horine was the third Horine son. He came on board on August 23, 1920. Dale gave his heart to Peggy and married Margurite "Peggy" Stout on January 17, 1942. Dale too served in the U.S. Army in WW II. Dale and Peg lived in Eaton and West Alexandria most of their lives. They enjoyed buying houses, then redecorating them to their tastes. Dale worked for N.C.R., National Cash Register. Both Dale and Peggy enjoyed gardening and flowers, fishing, and just "the great outdoors". Dale and Peggy were very active as Red Cross volunteers going to disaster sites to assist. Their family consisted of one daughter, Marjorie Horine Koenig (two children, Hans and Gretchen) and a son, Danny Horine (and his sons Peter and Matthew Horine). Margie is a nurse who lives in nearby Lewisburg, Ohio and Danny lives in Dayton, Ohio.


HORINE, Dale D.

Age 78, of Woodale Drive, Eaton, OH., died Sunday, November 22, 1998 at Grandview Hospital after a brief illness, Born August 23, 1920, in Eldorado, OH., son of Alva B. & L. Blanche (Deem) Horine. 1941 graduate of Eaton High School. Served with the U.S. Army Air Corps durind World War II, receiving the Purple Heart.

Retired in 1975 after 34 years service from the NCR Corporation of Dayton, OH. and had worked at McFall's Furniture in Eaton, OH. Life member of the American Legio Post #215 and Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post #8066 both of Eaton; Disabled American Veterans Service; 32 year volunteer for the American Red Cross serving with the Disaster Team at national disasters in West Virginia, Indiana, South Carolina, Northern California, Alabama, Hawaii, and several in Ohio, including the Xenia tornado. He was the Red Cross Liaison for the local Emergency Planning Commission and Preble County Fireman's Association; Preble County Historical Society's Farm Committee; 30 year member of West Alexandria Lion's Club; West Alexandria Booster's Club; and coached Little League and Pony League baseball in the 1950's and 1960's in West Alexandria, Ohio.

Preceded in death by Sister: Mildred Horine in 1919; Two brothers: Junior Horine and Raymond Horine. Survivors: Wife of 56 years,: Margaret M. (Stout) Horine; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Dan and Pam Horine of Centerville, OH; Daughter and Son-In-Law: Marge and Rick Koenig of Lewisburg, OH; Brothers: Dwight L. Horine, Ralph Horine and Robert Horine of Eaton, OH; Sisters: Helen Zimmerman, Jean DeHart, and Doris Clark of Eaton, OH., Thelma Agne of Battle Creek, MI., Mary Davenport of Dallas, TX., and Jan Schultz of Apollo, FL., Grandchildren: Pete & Mat Horine of Centerville, Ohio; Hans & Deanna Koenig of Lewisburg; Gretchen & George Melvin of Cincinnati; Great Grandson: Aaron Koenig of Lewisburg.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 25, 1998 at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 E, Main St. Eaton, OH. with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Preble Memorial Gardens, West Alexandria, OH, with full military graveside services by the Preble County Veteran's Home Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.


Dale D. Horine

Dale D. Horine, 78, of Woodale Drive, Eaton, died Sunday morning, Nov. 22, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 23, 1920, in Eldorado, he was the son of Alva B. and L. Blanche (Deem) Horine. He was a 1941 graduate of Eaton High School. Mr. Horine served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. He retired in 1975 after 34 years of service with NCR Corporation in Dayton, and had worked at McFall's Furniture in Eaton.

He was a life member of American Legion Post #215 of Eaton, Disabled American Veterans of Lewisburg, and a Preble County commissioner for the Preble County Veterans Service.

Mr. Horine was a 32-year volunteer for the American Red Cross, serving in West Virginia, Indiana, South Carolina, Alabama, Hawaii, and several on Ohio including the Xenia tornado. He was the Red Cross liaison for the Local Emergency Planning Commission and Preble County Fireman's Association.

He was a member of the Preble County Historical Society's Farm Committee, was a 30-year member of the West Alexandria Lions Club, a member of the West Alexandria Boosters Club, and coached Little League and Pony League baseball in the 1950s and 1960s in West Alexandria.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret M. (Stout) Horine; a son and a daughter-in-law, Marge and Rick Koenig of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Pete and Matt Horine of Centerville, Ohio, Hans and Deanna Koenig of Lewisburg, Gretchen and George Melvin of Cincinnati; a great-grandson, Aaron Koenig of Lewisburg.

Also surviving are brothers, Dwight L. Horine, Ralph Horine and Robert Horine, all of Eaton; sisters, Helen Zimmerman, Jean DeHart and Doris Clark, all of Eaton, Thelma Agne of Battle Creek, Mich., Mary Davenport of Dallas, Texas, and Jan Schultz of Apollo, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Horine, in 1919; and two brothers, Junior Horine and Raymond Horine.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating, Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, with full military graveside services by the Preble County Veterans; Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Americam Red Cross.
