He married (2) Jinny Myra Jackson January 1, 2001 in Jinny's home in Palmyra, Tennessee.
Norman Smith and Mildred Smith eloped to Corinth, Mississippi to get married. Mildred's father wouldn't consent to the wedding since Mildred was only 17. The age of consent in Mississippi at the time was 14, so they could legally marry in Mississippi without consent. Corinth, Mississippi is the Mississippi city that was the shortest travel distance for them.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Garner Smith and Dr. Roger Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
She was born August 27, 1940, in Montgomery County, daughter of James Bowles and Mary Steiner Bowles.
Mrs. Smith was owner of Cherry Station Antiques and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Smith, Clarksville, two sons, Anthony Smith, Clarksville, and Roger Smith, Starkville, Miss.; a daughter, Laverne Davis, Clarksville; two brothers, Frank Bowles and J.A. Bowles, both of Clarksville; seven sisters, Katherine Sanders, Nashville, and Frances Grizzard, Augusta Smith, Onia Miller, Joyce Norfleet, Shelia Crawford, and Jane Shelton, all of Clarksville; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Smith, Roger Smith, Mark Davis, Richard Davis, Nathan Smith, Frank Bowles, and J. A. Bowles.
