J1 Norman Lewis Butts, born December 18, 1945 in Flint, Michigan, son of Treva Wagamon Butts. He graduated from Southwestern High School and works as a relief man for Fisher Body in Flint.

On December 9, 1967, Norman married (1) Rita V. Velez. They had one daughter, Wendy, and were divorced in July 1971.

On September 16, 1972, Norman married (2) Vicki Rouse Placer. Vicki is a graduate of Northern High School in Flint, Michigan, and works as a clerk for Bell Telephone.
