Lawrence Besecker, 81, of 8707 Delisle-Fourman Road, Arcanum, died Friday evening at his residence after a brief illness.

Mr. Besecker was born March 7, 1903 in Darke County, son of the late Edgar and Gertrude (Miller) Besecker. He lived in the county all his life and was engaged in farming in Franklin Township.

Surviving are his wife Bertha (Williams); a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Corene) Bucholtz of Arcanum; two sons, Carl of Troy and Donovan of Laura; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother Herman of Laura. Preceding him in death were one grandson, Bradley Besecker; a sister, Della Eikenberry; and three brothers, Harley, Russell and Deo.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Robert Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in the Gettysburg Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
