Harold W. Bowman, 88, of 6714 State Route 36 East, Greenville, died Monday, May 19, 2003 at 7:45 a.m. at his residence.

He was born Nov. 6, 1914 in Bradford to the late George and Elizabeth (McClain) Bowman.

He was a farmer, a Grange Insurance salesman and he also ran Bowman's Country Store. He was a member of the Greenville Church of the Brethren and Webster Grange.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace E. Bowman; and two brothers, Roscoe and Norman Bowman.

He is survived by his wife, Normajean Bowman of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sandy Bowman of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Richard Swank of Pleasant Hill; three stepsons and a daughter-in-law, Jack Hall and Jeff Hall, both of West Manchester, and Lloyd and Kay Hall of West Manchester; four stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Fred Poston of Tennessee, Sally and Eric Williams of Eaton, Caroline and Norman Wilcox of Dayton, and Nancy and Tom Lease of Bradford; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Read of Gahanna.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the Castine Church of the Brethren, 624 State Route 127, South Castine, with the Rev. Greg Hyre and the Rev. Hershel Fee officiating. Burial will be in Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday May 21, 2003 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Darke County.
