H15 Amos Earl Miller, born March 2, 1889, died October 8, 1955; married (1) November 27, 1910 Rosa Naomi Hollinger, born January 27, 1893, died January 26, 1951 Bradford, Ohio, daughter of John Hollinger and Elizabeth Miller; married (2) May 7, 1952 Mary Rebecca Austin Flora, born December 8, 1894 in Wheatfield, Indiana, died October 27, 1955 Greenville, Ohio, daughter of Sylvester Austin and Amanda Root, widow of Emmett Flora.


MILLER-Brother Amos E., son of Moses and Susannah Miller, was born near Gettusburg, Ohio, March 2, 1889. In an auto accident south of Greenville, Ohio, he suddenly departed this life October 8, 1955 at the age of 66 yrs., 7 months and 6 days.

On November 27, 1910, he was united in marriage to Rosa N. Hollinger. This union was blessed with eight children; his companion and two sons preceded him in death.

On September 28, 1913, he with his companion were baptized into the Old German Baptist Church, to which he lived faithful until death. On February 9, 1923, he was called to the Office of Deacon, which he filled faithfully, never shunning his duty. He was always greatly concerned about his family and the church.

On May 7, 1952, he united in marriage to Mary Austin Flora. Sister Mary, at this time is in the hospital in a very critical condition.

He leaves to morn his departure: his companion; 6 children: Emerson, Talmage, Sadie Sprinkel, Harley, Isaiah, and Mary Grote; 3 stepchildren: Virgil Jenkins, Audrey Williamson, and Delbert Flora; 20 grandchildren; and 16 step-grandchildren; 5 sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Lear, Mrs. Lydia Sudermann, Mrs. Susan Ardis, Mrs. Hettie Blyly, and Mrs. Amanda Zellers; one brother, Jacob Miller; with other relatives and a host of neighbors and friends. He was a kind and loving father and will greatly be missed by all.

Funeral services were conducted by Brethren Levi Bowman, M. V. Cool and Ralph Boone from Revelations 21:5, "Behold I make all things new," at the Oak Grove Church near Gettysburg on October 11, 1955. Interment in the Gettysburg Cemetery to await the resurrection morning. Hymns used were 522, 55, 451, 393, 422.

Mrs. Rosa N. Miller

BRADFORD,--Mrs. Rosa N. Miller, 57, of 121 Nill st., died at 2 p. m. Friday after an illness of seven weeks. She was a member of the German Baptist church north of Gettysburg.

Services will be held ar 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Oak Grove church, with burial in Gettysburg cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after noon Sunday. Relatives ask that flowers be omitted.


MILLER-Sister Mary Rebecca, daughter of Sylvester and Amanda (Root) Austin, was born near Wheatville, Indiana, December 8, 1884. On Sept. 17, 1909 she was baptized in the Old German Baptist Church near Rensslear, Indiana. On December 5, 1919, she moved with her parents near Sedalia, Indiana, in the Middle Fork district of church. On May 25, 1923 she was united in marriage with Bro. Emmett Flora, who passed from this life Dec. 27, 1949. On May 7, 1952, she became the wife of Bro. Amos Miller of Bradford, Ohio and was placed in the Deacon's Office on Sept. 27 of that year, in which calling she labored faithfully, ever manifesting the love and patience that characterize the followers of Christ.

Death came as a result of an auto accident in which her husband, Bro. Amos and Sister Clara Lavy met sudden death and Bro. Isaac Lavy passed away soon after. The two families were on the way to the Prices Creek Communion at the time of the accident.
