Florence Miller & Virgil Royer
On their Wedding Day, May 19, 1923 |
"Florence and Virgil worked together to raise four daughters and establish the family business known as "Royer's Pride Potatoes". Virgil was a good business man and Florence was always there to help him. She prepared many meals for the employees, helped organize the annual Potato Field Day and entertained the many salesmen and visitors that came to the farm. For the annual Potato Field Day she planned activites for the women while the men held their agricultural meetings. The love of teaching was a life long vocation for Florence. She taught in the one room country school at Hill Grove and Heller's Corner. She also taught Sunday School for many years, and was a 4-H leader for over 30 years. She was active in the church. She came from the Greenville Christian Church to the Painter Creek Church of the Brethren. Her Christian philosophy was exemplified in her everyday living. She was a wonderful person. She was my mom."
