Noah Miller Noah Miller, son of John C. and Geritta Greider Miller was born north of Gettysburg, Ohio , October 4, 1843 and departed this life February 7, 1927, aged 83 years, months and 3 days. February 17, 1867 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Jane Ullery Spitler, who preceded him in death, October 14, 1921. To this union were born two sons, S. S. Miller of Covington and another who died in infancy. He had one step-daughter, the late Mrs. John Warner. There are eight step-grandchildren. In this branch of the family there are also 26 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Besides the above mentioned son, Mr. Miller is survived by two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His early life was spent in Darke county where he followed farming. About thirty years ago he moved to Covington where for a number of years he was engaged as a worker in cement, doing a large part of the concrete work which was done in this community during those years. Very early in life Mr. Miller became a member of the Church of the Brethren and has throughout the years continued a loyal deeply consecrated worker in the church he so much loved. He was made a deacon in the Oakland church about 1881 and has always been conscientiously devoted to the work of this office of importance in the Master's Kingdom. He was a man of strong convictions and a fine conception as to what was right in the plans and conduct of life. He was highly regarded by the people of the community in which he lived. One hears on every hand expressions which show that his life impressed itself as on of genuine piety. His life covered a remarkable period in the development of our nature. He recalled the days when he was sent to "borrow fire" as the neighbors said in those days. This was the period when grain was harvested with a scythe and cradle. He had a keen mind and a strong body. He was a great reader and it is known that he read his Bible through time and again during his life. He was the last of a family of ten and lived to be older than any other of the group. Mr. Miller enjoyed good health until about eight months ago. At that time he called for the anointment service which meant much to him spiritually and physically. In his passing the family lose one whose life was prized for his true and fine character as a devoted Christian father, whose ideals and manner of life were a constant source of inspiration. The church loses an official who was ever true to her principles and whose generosity prompted him to a most liberal support of her work and workers. Our town and community loses a citizen who was loved and respected by all who knew him.
