For more than a year he has been afflicted with chronic rheumatism from which he suffered severely, bearing it, however, with great fortitude-never murmuring or complaining. About two months ago he began to improve in health and was gradually getting better, being able to drive and walk about, over which he was very much rejoiced. The day before his death he was unusually active. He retired that evening somewhat weary but otherwise not complaining greatly and was found dying about five o'clock on Tuesday morning.
