"When [Daniel was] eighteen months old, his father built a raft on the Ohio River and floated down the stream to Kentucky, where they landed and lived for a while in that state. They, then, moved to Clermont County, Ohio. They next moved to Montgomery County, Ohio, where Daniel's father in 1816, built the first frame house in Jackson Township."
