Emma L. Swinger, daughter of the late J.W. Littell and Edna Capps Littell, was born on April 12, 1916, at Avert and died at Mulberry Manor in Dexter on Monday, April 4, 2005, at the age of 88. Mrs. Swinger was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter, Order of Easter Star in Dexter, a member of the Frisco Extension Club, and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Everett Foster Swinger on Jan. 7, 1934, at Gary, Indiana Mr. Swinger preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1995.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Terry Swinger of Caruthersville; one daughter, Jean Swinger of Wildwood; three grandchildren, Kellie Reese and Kim Williams, both of Dexter, and Anthony Swinger of Indianapolis, Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Micah Staggs of Bloomfield, Garrett Williams, Aaron Reese, and Jansen Williams, all of Dexter, and Susanna Swinger of Indianapolis, Indiana; and one great-great-grandchild, Brooklyn Staggs of Bloomfield.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, William "Bill" Swinger; and one sister, Wilma Swinger.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Building Fund, 224 E. Stoddard, Dexter, Mo. 63841.
