Hans Michael Miller II (ca. 1728-before 1792)

C8 Hans Michael Miller II, born about 1728, died before 29 October 1792 in Frederick County Maryland. Married Elizabeth (?), about 1749. Elizabeth was born 1724. Seven children.

He was given 50 acres of land called "Blindman's Choice" by his father, located northeast of Taneytown (Carroll County, MD; then in Frederick County), 1 October 1760, possibly shortly after his marriage, when he may have been striking out on his own. He acquired further parcels in the same area from Samuel Owings, Jr., including tracts called "Miller's Chance" (13 June 1760), "Owings Choice," and "Resurvey on Owings Chance" (Tracy Papers, Carroll County Historical Society.)

There also are land transactions recorded between Michael Miller (probably this one, and not his son Michael) and Peter Braver (6 September 1783, Fred. Co. Deeds Book 5, p. 399); Jacob Lorentz (1 April 1785, Fred. County Deeds Book 7, p. 221); Samuel Owing (22 Dec. 1787, Fred. Co. Deeds Book 7, P. 143); and "Exchange" from Conrad Mower 11 April 1787 (Fred. Co. Deeds Book 7. p. 221).

In his lifetime, Michael sold to his son Adam Miller 3 parcels of land, consisting of "Blindman's Choice," part of "Owings Choice," and "Owings Comer," total of 90.5 acres, but Adam had not paid the 200 pounds before his father's death. From the deed, dated 1 March 1793, we get the names of Michael Miller's surviving children and the husbands of the two daughters. (Fred. Co. Deeds Book 15, p. 722).

Michael Miller sold or gave to his son, Michael the tract known as "Exchange." Michael Jr., sold this tract to his brother-in-law, Andrew Bushman, in a deed dated 20 April 1795. This was about the time that Michael, Jr., moved to what is now Adams County, PA. (Fred. Co. Deeds Book 13, p. 221).

D4 Margrethe Miller, born 30 September, 1760; died 11 April 1809, Adams County, PA; Married John Bower, born 1754.

D5 Michael Miller III, born 7 June 1763, Frederick County, Maryland; died 27 August, 1839, Cumberland Twp., Adams County, PA. Married about 1785 Marie Magdalena Bushman.

D6 Henry Miller, born about 1765, Frederick County, Maryland; died 11 September 1827, Bedford, Bedford County, PA. Married (1) Catharine (?) before 1799. He married (2) Elizabeth Smith after 1799.

D7 Adam Miller, born 9 July 1768, Frederick County, Maryland; died October 1833, Bedford, Bedford County, PA. Married Eva Remmel about 1788 in Adams County, PA.
