A1 Thomas Jefferson McMillen, born August 1829 in Ohio, died February 22, 1902 in Peebles, Ohio. Thomas McMillen's father (name unknown) was born in Pennsylvania, his mother (name unknown) was born in Ohio. Thomas married November 18, 1852 Sarah Jane Lynch, born December 22, 1835 in Ohio, died November 30, 1911 in Peebles, Ohio. Four children.

Sarah Jane Lynch was the daughter of Daniel Lynch (born ca. 1810 in Kentucky) and Hestor or Esther Thoroman (born ca. 1814 in Ohio). Thomas and Sarah are both buried in Locust Grove Cemetery, Adams County, Ohio.

The venerable Thomas J. McMillan died at his home one mile east of Peebles, last Saturday, after a short illness of pneumonia in his seventy-third year. His long life was spent in the community where he died and where he was esteemed as an honorable, upright citizen. He was married to Sarah Jane Lynch in 1852 and she with a family of grown children, grand children and great grand children, survive him.

Mr. McMillen became a member of the Masonic fraternity, in 1866, in the lodge at Locust Grove, was subsequently a member of Sinking Spring and West Union lodges, and a charter member of Peebles lodge which conducted the funeral services last Thursday, the remains of the deceased brother being deposited in the Locust Grove cemetery after funeral services at the Peebles M. E. church conducted by Rev. Sentman. Mr. McMillan was the father of S. L. McMillan of the place.

PIONEER RESIDENT DIED AT PEEBLES

Mrs. Sarah McMillen Was Victim of Bronchial Pneumonia.

PEEBLES, O. Mrs. Sarah J. McMillen, aged 76 years, one of the pioneer residents of Peebles, died at noon last Thursday after a week's illness of bronchial pneumonia.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Sarah Lynch, was the widow of the late T. J. McMillen, who died some ten years ago. To this union were born four children, two of whom are living, Spencer L. of West Union, and Dorsey C. of Peebles.

The deceased was a devout Christian and will be greatly missed in the church circles.

The funeral was held Sunday morning from the M. E. church, of which the deceased was a member, the service being conducted by Rev. Shepherd. The body was laid to rest in the Locust Grove cemetery.
