Vincent A. McMillen Funeral services for Arapahoe County Commissioner Vincent A. McMillen will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday in, Burns Memorial Methodist Church in Aurora. Burial will be in Fairmont. Mr. McMillen, commissioner since 1962, died Sunday night of an apparent heart attack in a motel in Boulder, where he was attending a library conference at the University of Colorado. He was found on the motel room floor when he failed to answer his telephone. The Boulder Fire Department rescue squad tried unsuccessfully to revive him. He was 45. Mr. McMillen, who lived at 812 Salem st., Aurora, was elected to his first 4-year term to the board of commissioners in November 1962. His term would have expired next January. Born July 31, 1920 in Leesburg, Ohio, where he was reared and educated, Mr. McMillen was a graduate of the University of Denver in business administration. An accountant, Mr. McMillen was a finance officer of the University of Colorado Medical School. He held a number of key committee posts on the board of county commissioners, including co-chairman of the Library Resources Committee. He devoted much time to the county's library facilities and helped establish the Arapahoe Regional Library. He was chairman pro tem of the board, serving under Chairman John V. Christensen. The third board member is John J. Nicholl. Mr. McMillen was chairman of than board's finance committee, served on the health, welfare and civil defense committees, and was co-chairman of the Arapahoe County War on Poverty program. Shortly after World War 11, Mr. McMillen was an Air Force sergeant stationed in Hawaii where he met his wife, Helen, whom, he married. Aug. 27, 1950. In late, October, 1964, Mr. McMillen suffered a mild heart attack, which left him a convalescent until January, 1965. Three months ago, he underwent minor surgery. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children, Mary Laurie, 13, and Tommy, 9, and his mother, Mrs. Ione McMillen of Leesburg. The family requested that those who wish may make contributions to Burns Memorial Methodist Church or to the Arapahoe Regional Library fund through the county treasurer's office.
