A neighbor discovered his body hanging by his feet, which were fastened in the wheels of his cart, which was standing hub deep in Wakatomika Creek. It is supposed that he stopped his horse in the creek, and when he attempted to unrein it he stepped on the wheel, and the horse, eager to drink, jerked forward, which caused Mr. Goff to lose his balance. When he fell his feet caught in the spokes of the wheel, which prevented his attempt to recover himself. [don't try this at home folks!!].
He was born November 20, 1835 and was well known in this community where he had resided all his life. The funeral took place from the family home on Monday at 2 P.M. with religious services in the Presbyterian Church conducted by the writer, and interment was made in out village cemetery. Much sympathy was felt for the sorrowing family as was shown by the large number on people in attendance.
