Samuel J. Ross, 83, Dies Late Monday in Home at Adams Mills. Samuel J. Ross, 83, lifelong farmer of the Adams Mills vicinity died at 11:15 p.m. Monday at his home in Adams Mills after an illness of 17 months. He was born at Watertown, Wis., Dec. 14, 1861, a son of Nenian and Mary Denny Ross. Mr. Ross was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Adams Mills. He was married three times. His first wife, the former Belle Fisher died in 1888, and his second wife, the former Mary Elizabeth Murphy died in 1937. In 1938 he was married to Laura Slaughter, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert W. Ross of Adams Mills, a sister, Jennie D. Ross of Cleveland, and four grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, two daughters, a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of the son Robert W. Ross, Adams Mills. Rev. D. Ira Lambert will officiate and burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. Friends will be received at the home of the son, Robert W. Ross, until time for service.
