I Samuel Cairns being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament. Item 1st It is my will that all my Just and lawful debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as possible. Item 2nd I give and devise to my beloved wife Mahala Cairns during her natural life the third part of all my real and personal property after the first Item be accomplished. Item 3rd I will and bequeath the remainder of my property to be equally divided between my three children Moses, Elizabeth Kennedy and Margaret Alice with the exception that my son Moses shall have two hundred dollars more than his third. Item 4th I will and devise that if all my children should die before marriage or becoming of age their property to fall to my wife and at her death to be equally divided between my Sister Margaret and Brothers Kennedy and John or their heirs. Item 6th I will and devise my Masonic Meddal to my Brother-in-law Sam'l Mack during his life to be returned to my Son should he become a Free and excepted Masson before that time. Item 7th I will and devise that the farm be let on the shares and the proceeds (after keeping my wife and children and giving the children a passable English education) go to paying my debts and then when all claims are satisfied then the above devision to be made between my wife and children. Item 8 I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife Guardian of my two daughters. Item 9th I do hereby nominate and appoint Henry Fisher Guardian of my Son. Item 10th I do hereby nominate my wife Mahala Cairns and Samuel Mack Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby authorizing and empowering them to compromise adjust release and discharge in such manner as they may deem proper the debts and claims due me and that they will when the time comes for the within devision dispose of the childrens shares for the childrens advantage and interest untill the arrive at age or intermarrys at which time they are the receive their individual shares. Pg. 3 --Mrs. Mahala Cairns, who lives with her daughter, Mrs. Parker, at Bowerston, died very unexpectedly Thursday morning of heart failure. Mrs. Cairns was 78 years of age. She had not been feeling well for several days but was about the house as usual the day before she died. Funeral services this morning at 10 o'clock. Interment at New Hagerstown.
