THE SUMMONS CAME SUDDENLY
Details of the sudden death of Thomas McClanahan -

the news was severe shock

Dr. McClanahan has returned from Monmouth where he was called by the death of his father, Professor Thomas McClanahan, one of the best known citizens of this part of the state. While there he learned further particulars of the sudden death of his father. It appears that he was doing some work for Bedford, Ia., and was spending the night in the hotel at Creston, Ia., thirty miles from Bedford. When he retired on Thursday evening he left a call and on Friday morning he was called according to his instructions and got up. He started to wash and dress. As he did not answer as quickly as expected an investigation was made and he was found dead. He had when discovered one hand on his collar as if in the act of adjusting it.
