OBITUARYJohn B. McClanahan, son of Samuel A. and Sara Margaret Zercher McClanahan, was born March 30, 1887. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of West Union, where he taught the men's Sunday School class for many years. As long as his health permitted, he attended church services regularly. In his early years of adult life, John taught school in Adams County and then became engaged in farming until his retirement. On September 21, 1910, he was united in marriage to Ethel Robe, and they lived a very happy life until her death on March 6, 1973. He departed this life January 20, 1978 at the age of 90 years, nine months and 20 days. John was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by five nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. Services were conducted January 23 at the Ellis Funeral Home in West Union. James Robb Officiated. Burial was in the Kirker Cemetery.

Final Rites for Ethel McClanahanMrs. Ethel McClanahan, 83, of West Union Route 3, died Tuesday at Adams County Hospital. She was a member of West Union Presbyterian Church. Surviving is her husband, J. B. McClanahan. Services are to be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at Ellis Funeral Home, with Rev. Melvin Pederson and Rev. Lloyd DeLong, officiating. Burial is to be in Kirker Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday.
