Page 1BLESSED RESTIn the __________________________ was strikingly portrayed by the demise of Mrs. Julia McClanahan Kirker, wife of Wm. Kirker, at the Kirker homestead in Liberty township last Saturday night. She was taken ill Monday of last week with the prevailing malady, la grippe, the disease seemingly yielding in a satisfactory manner to the remedies prescribed by Dr. W. K. Coleman until Saturday morning when the patient pleasingly suggested to her physician that she thought he would not have to visit her any more as she felt so much better. But the treachery of la grippe with pneumonia tendencies fully exhibited itself Saturday evening when Mrs. Kirker grew alarmingly worse. Dr. Coleman reached her bedside at 9 o'clock Saturday night, but she was beyond human aid, death coming to her relief at 12 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted at her late home Tuesday morning, Rev. Griggsby, of the Manchester Presbyterian Church ____. The interment took place at the Kirker cemetery, the remains being followed by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. Julia McClanahan Kirker was the youngest daughter of the late James McClanahan, of Liberty township, and was aged thirty-nine years. She was married to Wm. C. Kirker thirteen years ago. Their marriage was blessed with two bright boys, aged twelve and seven years. For many years of Mrs. Kirkers's life she was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. Her many womanly virtues were exemplified in her home where she demonstrated her kindness of heart, her devotion and love for her family, her sympathy for and readiness to relieve the hungry and distressed who appealed to her.
